Precautions for Using Functional Sofas

When using a functional sofa, first ensure there is sufficient clearance around its moving parts. As the backrest adjusts or the footrest extends, certain structural components shift forward or backward; if the sofa is positioned too close to a wall, coffee table, or other furniture, this movement may be obstructed, potentially damaging the sofa or surrounding items. Therefore, when placing the sofa, allow enough space for its full range of motion-specifically keeping the area behind the backrest and in front of the footrest free of clutter. When operating the footrest, keep hands, feet, and other objects away from the gaps in the mechanism to prevent crushing injuries during extension or retraction. Households with children or pets should be especially vigilant; verify that no people or pets are nearby before operating the sofa to avoid accidents caused by misuse.

For electric functional sofas, pay special attention to the power supply and control system. Before initial use, check that the power cord, plug, and controller are properly connected; do not use power cords that are damaged, loose, or show signs of significant wear. Do not forcibly obstruct the movement of the backrest or footrest during operation, nor apply extra pressure to accelerate the adjustment speed. If the motor makes abnormal noises, stutters noticeably, or fails to stop correctly, discontinue use immediately and inspect the unit; do not attempt to disassemble the motor or control system without professional expertise. Avoid spilling liquids on the control panel, power port, or inside the sofa, and take care during cleaning to prevent excessive moisture from entering electrical components. For models equipped with features such as massage, heating, or USB charging, follow the product instructions carefully; avoid overloading the electrical system or running the features continuously for extended periods.

Although functional sofas are designed to support significant weight, they must still be used correctly. Do not stand on the seat, armrests, or footrest, and avoid having multiple people sit simultaneously on a single moving section, as this could exceed the load-bearing capacity of specific structural parts. When moving the sofa, fully retract the footrest, disconnect the power, and enlist help to carry it; avoid dragging the sofa, which could damage the base mechanism or power cord. Regularly inspect the sofa's screws, connecting parts, and moving mechanisms during routine use, and promptly repair any components that appear loose or unstable. Different cleaning methods should be employed for various upholstery materials-such as leather or fabric-to avoid damaging the surface with unsuitable cleaning agents. While functional sofas are generally straightforward to use, the inclusion of internal mechanical and electrical components necessitates greater attention to the range of motion, electrical safety, and proper operating procedures compared to standard sofas. Cultivating good usage habits not only minimizes safety risks but also helps extend the sofa's lifespan.
